The TCU men's golf program concluded its second day of action at the 2008 NCAA Division I Central Regional Championships in 18th place as the Horned Frogs tallied a 36-hole score of 604 at The Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio, on Friday (May 16) afternoon.

The Frogs - who are appearing in their 19th consecutive NCAA Central Regional Championships - finished with their second straight 18-over-par score of 302 - which gives them a combined total of 604 after 36 holes of action. The Purple and White concluded the day tied with the University of Colorado for 18th place and remain within striking distance of a spot in the top-10 as they are seven strokes back of the necessary showing to advance to the NCAA National Championships.

James Sacheck (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville H.S.) was the Frogs' top golfer for the second straight day as the TCU junior notched a score of 76 on Day Two en route to securing a total of 145 through 36 holes. After two complete days of action on the links - Sacheck is tied for 50th overall at the NCAA Division I Central Regional Championships.

Four Frogs are in a logjam for 70th-place as the final members all finished the second day of action with a combined score of 152 through 36 holes. Travis Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas/Paschal H.S.) notched the best score of the day for the Frogs with a 74 while Franklin Corpening (Fort Worth, Texas/Paschal H.S.), Robby Ormand (Austin, Texas/James Bowie H.S.) and Jordan Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas/Arlington H.S.) all finished with a score of 76 in round two.

For the second straight day - Wake Forest University possesses the team lead at the NCAA Division I Central Regional Championships as the Demon Deacons finished with a nine-over-par score of 577 through 36 holes while Alabama (587), Illinois (590), Penn State (590) and Eastern Kentucky (591) round out the top-five.

 

 

Kevin Tway of Oklahoma State is the leader after the second round of action at the NCAA Division I Central Regional Championships after recording a two-day tally of 139 while Brendan Gielow, Dustin Groves and Webb Simpson - all of Wake Forest - are listed second, third and fourth - respectively.

The Frogs will return to the links on Saturday (May 17) morning for the third and final round of action at the NCAA Division I Central Regional Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
