OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Junior R.J. Hesselberg was named the Mountain West Conference Men's Diver of the Year at the conclusion of the MWC Championships on Saturday. Hesselberg claimed the championship in the three-meter springboard event on Wednesday.

Hesselberg, a native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, set a school record with a score of 359.80 to claim the three-meter title. Hesselberg also placed second in the platform event (285.55) and sixth in the one-meter dive (289.80).

On the season, Hesselberg won 12 events and set a new conference record with seven MWC Men's Diver of the Week selections, including a stretch of six consecutive weeks of winning the award.

Hesselberg will compete at the NCAA Diving Regional beginning on March 6 in Houston, Texas, in hopes of qualifying for the 2008 NCAA Championships for the second straight season.
